About the Journal
The Journal of Language Variation and Sociolinguistics is an international open access journal that is published regularly online. The journal publishes high-quality scientific articles in German and English on language variation and sociolinguistics. It is open to different theoretical directions and methodological approaches. Empirical and/or theoretical grounded contributions on the following topics are of particular interest:
- Variation linguistics
- Sociolinguistics
- Variationist sociolinguistics
- Dialectology
- Variation in language acquisition and the acquisition of language variation
- Typological variation
- Psycholinguistic approaches to variation
Special issues on specific topics of variation and sociolinguistics are welcome.

Review
Submitted articles are double-blind peer-reviewed within four months. Reviewers are members of the Editorial Board, the International Advisory Board and other experts. Submitted manuscripts must not yet have been published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

The Journal of Language Variation and Sociolinguistics is an Open Access journal. All articles are made available online free of charge (according to the BOAI definition of Open Access, https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/). Content is protected by a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). Language Variation and Sociolinguistics does not charge Article Processing Charges (APCs) or Article Submission Charges (ASCs).
Conflicts of Interest and Publication Ethics
All financial and non-financial conflicts of interest of authors and reviewers must be disclosed in advance of submission. In case of doubt, the editors of the journal should be contacted. The Journal of Language Variation and Sociolinguistics follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for safeguarding scientific integrity (https://publicationethics.org/).
